Just as a side note, we do have what that article refers to as "detail
addressing" turned on, using postfix's default '+' as the extention
character.  So you can create a .forward+commits file and subscribe to
the commits list from username+commits at pidgin.im  and it will work.
.forward+* files use the same format as .forward files do. 

Or you could just let procmail identify the mail as belonging to a given
list and sort it that way. Procmail could even munge the subject header
for you. 

So yes, overall, I find that article Sean posted persuasive.
