The TM is used when you are making a claim for trademark without
actually having registered it. So simply, it is in your interest to
use it in all instances (you can't claim something if you don't
actually claim it), basically every publishing instance  (software,
readme, webpage, email announcement) should make it _clear_, that you
are making a claim in the trademark of Pidgin.

Once registered you use (R) instead of TM
