gaim.sf.net redirect breaks release notification plugin

I see that http://gaim.sourceforge.net/ is redirecting to http://pidgin.im/. 
That's cool, but unfortunately it breaks the release notification plugin.  I
get the following text in a popup window:

You are using Gaim version 2.0.0beta6.  The current version is HTTP/1.1 302 Found
