kde proxy problem?

Im not sure if this belongs here, but here goes:
     I am using gaim/Pidgin 2 on Kubuntu feisty behind an http proxy.
Previously, it worked fine on Ubuntu (gnome). Oh, i connect to gtalk
(jabber)
     I am not able to connect. Here is the debug transcript:

What exactly is happening here? why does it disconnect after
establishing the stream?
