Use case for per-protocol icons

Certainly an improvement, but I'd personally prefer it to be in the
tab. Also, why do we need an _extra_ icon to show which protocol it
is? Wouldn't it be more efficient to have the status and protocol
icons built together, just as they were in Gaim?
