"Insert" Button in UI

I've always been a fan of keyboard shortcuts for the smileys.  I wish they
could be brought back (I can't even remember the last time the keyboard
shortcuts existed in a build). I also do know that I can modify the
keymappings and assign the smileys to them (by mapping :) to control-1 for
example).  Otherwise, I would like to see that insert menu be split back
into their separate menus. Maybe even just make it a smiley menu instead.  I
know that when I want to insert an image directly in the conversation, I
just drop the image in and then choose the option to insert in convo.
Also, I can't seem to get the smiley window to stay open (not that I'd ever
want it to stay open except for when inserting a smiley).
