"must have Glib 2.0 development headers"

I'm trying to compile Pidgin v 2.1.1.

When I run "./configure", I get the error message in the subject line above.

When I check my installed packages, I find that I have installed:

glib2-2.4.8-1
glib2-devel-2.4.8-1

I assumed that the second of those packages satisfied the requirement, but I must be wrong.

I'd be very grateful if someone would tell me why I'm wrong.
