Crashdump on Windows, not working ?

It is the debug version.
I dunno about the dll, isn't it installed by the install wizard ? ( I am not at that PC right now to check).
how can I tell if it abort()ed or crashed ???

You're going to need to elaborate what exactly you mean.

If you have the debug version of Pidgin (and it has the exchndl.dll
file in the install directory), and it crashes (as opposed to
abort()-ing), it should produce a pidgin.RPT file.
