Does Yahoo/MSN interoperability work in pidgin?

I only have an msn account and i added a friend using yahoo with windows live
messenger but it did not show up when i set up my msn account in pidgin.
Does the interoperability work with pidgin's msn protocol? Or do i need to
create a separate yahoo account?
