hmm, there isn't one. maybe the configure error happened before it started 
writing to config.log? the configure script is 1.2MB, but i could post a 
snippet, if it would help.

(sorry, i know there probably aren't many autoconf experts here, and even 
fewer who actually enjoy debugging it. :/ )
