One final note of clarification for people who don't closely follow
Pidgin development. There is code that adds Google Talk as a protocol
option in the Pidgin UI that will be released on Thursday in 2.0.1
unless someone does something drastic.

This discussion is about further special casing for Google Talk users:
most of which can be done at runtime. The discussion is unrelated to
the presence of a Google Talk entry in the protocol dropdown.
