Fedora Core Pidgin missing SSL

Thanks for the replies. I had installed the cyrus-sasl-{plain,md5} rpm's 
when I had this problem with Gaim, but I guess the rpm's were incompatible 
with Pidgin installed from a repo. I did

$ yum remove cyrus-sasl-plain cyrus-sasl-md5 libpurple pidgin finch
$ yum install cyrus-sasl-plain cyrus-sasl-md5 libpurple pidgin finch

and now Google Talk works.
