This broke something.  Now when you insert a newline in an IMHTML
widget, the line is stored as "<br>\n," which in turn is read back by
IMHTML as "\n\n"

This causes an ever-doubling newline problem.  I am backing it out for
now, because I think it's worse having increasing newlines than lacking
line breaks in HTML source of log files.
