Quite a lot of people use their status messages on XMPP, AIM et al. for
Twitter-esque messages, not "In a meeting". For those people, such a
plugin would not be a Twitter overkill.

There are other people (when I last used an MSN prpl that shows them,
half the MSN contacts on my list) who use their MSN "personal message"
for "in a meeting". For those people, clearly syncing their personal
message to Twitter would be ridiculous.

I think this illustrates nicely that personal messages and status
messages are simply different uses of the same feature. :-)
