at-sign in Jabber passwords

Is there a known bug whereby Pidgin will not enable a user to log in to
a Jabber server if the password contains an at-sign? I have seen this
behavior several times on the jabber.org server when attempting to help
users with login problems. I'm happy to file a report if this is not a
known bug.
