A minimum size should appease most people. If we want to go further, I'd
suggest putting a button next to the divider that uses the
locked/unlocked icons (run gnome-volume-control to see the icons). The
divider would set the minimum size. The button (which would default to
unlocked) would determine whether or not you auto-resize.
