Voice and Video GSoC Project

There has been quite a lot of progress since the last update. In case
you hadn't heard development is back on im.pidgin.pidgin.vv. The
newest Farsight 2 version is now 0.0.7 and it's had ICE support for a
few versions now. A new API has been designed for libpurple's media
support and is now well into being implemented.

Jingle support is most of the way complete, with support for both
raw-udp and ice-udp modes. There is a bug with libnice at the moment
that makes it not connect outside of a local network. Just recently
Pidgin has been made to work with both GTalk and Gmail's audio chat.
Video chat with Gmail won't be possible until either there are some
open source *-SVC codecs or Gmail allows other codecs.

The GUI has been rearranged a little. Now the buttons are along the
right, below the audio and video display. I'll post some screenshots
in the other thread.
