This is not a project that is appropriate for GSoC as the amount of work
involved is not nearly large enough. All that would be required for this
to exist would be for a conversation placement plugin to be written which
placed the conversation windows into the GtkNotebook that already exists
in the buddy list (or to add a new GtkNotebook to the buddy list).

In fact, ages ago, just such a plugin existed.
