Retrieving user info via libpurple

hi all,

I'm interested in retrieving user info, but I don't want to make a UI call.

I've noticed that:
serv_get_info indirectly makes a UI call as well as 
purple_notify_userinfo

is there a way to get user info without having to make a UI call? I simply want the HTML that is displayed in the box.
