Hijack menu option action

Hello,

I would like to write a plugin for Pidgin which sends a word to an 
online database [1] when the user clicks on the menu option "Add 
to dictionary" that new word. The sending part should be done using 
HTTP GET. I am not sure if there is any helper in libpurple to do
that, but my first question is:

How can I add some new functionality (sending the word online) to 
a menu option (like "Add to dictionary")?

This would really help the Romanian localization team. There is a 
similar plugin for Firefox [2]. :-)
