Display name for yahoo transport

Hi folks,

 I am trying to figure out how to get the display name of an yahoo ID for a
java based library.

 I found that Pidgin already has that feature. Could some body please let me
know how the display name is usually got in yahoo chat protocol?

 Eg : abcd at yahoo.com is the id and abcd defg is the name. I would like to
get abcd defg for display purposes.
