Just to provide a more complete picture:
RHEL 5.8 has glib2 2.12.3 and is supported by Red Hat through 2017.
RHEL 5 is already unsupported by Pidgin with the requirement set to
2.16, so I am okay with bumping it all the way to 2.22. However, Daniel
should weigh in regarding the Windows glib situation, in case there are
problems to deal with there.
