We are pleased to finally announce the 1.0 release of Pidgin-Chime, a
plugin for Pidgin/Adium/Bitlbee/etc. which provides native connectivity
to Amazon Chime from Linux and various other platforms.

SUPPORT NOTE: This is a user-driven project and not an officially
supported client. Please report issues in the github project below, and
not to the Amazon Chime team.

The repository is at https://github.com/awslabs/pidgin-chime and

Fedora packages are in the release process and should be in updates-
testing soon, and there is a COPR which contains per-commit builds as
well as an updated Pidgin 2.14.0dev which is required for full
functionality, at https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/dwmw2/chime/

As of the 1.0 release we have full support for day-to-day IM and chat
room functionality, including read reports via a Pidgin plugin. We can
schedule meetings, including an Evolution plugin to prepopulate a "new
meeting" editor with Chime meeting details ready for addressbook
autocompletion and free/busy lookups to be handled by Evolution.

Audio calls are supported, as is screen sharing — requiring Pidgin
2.13.0 for inbound screen sharing and Pidgin 2.14.0(dev) for outbound.
For sharing from a Wayland desktop, see Pidgin PR#337:
https://bitbucket.org/pidgin/main/pull-requests/337

To see full names and availability (and photos, if you have the right
Pidgin plugins) of individuals who are not known contacts, whom you
encounter in chat rooms, meetings or direct IM, Pidgin 2.14.0 is also
needed.

Support for video calls will be added soon.

Support for USB headsets, including their controls for muting and
terminating calls, has been tested in conjunction with the plugin at
