Yahoo Protocol Changes

Hi, everyone.

As your users have undoubtedly made you aware, there are currently issues with
connecting to Yahoo. This is due to a protocol change on the Yahoo servers that
cause them to reject the authentication mechanism used by Pidgin 2.5.6 and earlier.

Two of our Summer of Code students implemented the new HTTP-based login
mechanism. This code is currently in our Monotone repository and will be
included in Pidgin 2.6.0.

Due to the shutdown of the old authentication mechanism happening earlier than
we expected (the last date we saw indicated mid-August), I have backported these
changes to libpurple 2.5.6. We are currently prepping a 2.5.7 release, but I
know some of you would prefer to simply patch the yahoo prpl to fix the issue
and be done with it. To that end, I have attached the relevant bits of our
upcoming 2.5.7 release.

Hopefully you find this patch useful. It applies cleanly against 2.5.6 and
2.5.5, but I have tested it only against 2.5.6.

John
