LAN

Hello there,

 

I am looking for a way to have instant messaging and file transfer among
users of a small LAN. Computers are Linux and Windows.

 

I've seen there is Pidgin for windows too, so I wonder if there is a
protocol I can use, easy to set up, so all the users can talk to themselves
and share files, but just within the LAN, not connecting to instant
messaging services.

 

Any help on this will be much appreciated.
