Font Issue and MSN File Transfer Speed

Do you have any plugins loaded? You are referring to the text you type and
not the text your friends send, right? Does hitting ctrl-r in the
conversation windows that are incorrect 'fix' the problem? Does this
problem last if you close and reopen the conversation window? Does it
always happen or only for certain languages/characters?

pidgin only supports the proxied MSN file transfer method and the MSN
servers throttle this method, there isn't anything we can do about that
and no one has yet written the code to use the direct file transfer
method. Though someone applied to do it for the Summer of Code this year I
believe (whether they will get accepted is not currently known).
