Disappearing buddies

Hi--

A branch office is running Pidgin 2.4.3 for Windows on XP using the AIM 
network, just a couple network nodes in a shared office with another firm. 
They report that they appear online to themselves though not to each other. 
Shutting Pidgin down and restarting seems to solve the problem, but it crops 
up again when Pigdin has been online for a while. They appear constantly 
online to those of us in the main office in another city. 

I saw some references to disappearing buddies in the trac log, but those got 
fixed in version 2.01. Does anyone have any clues as to what's causing 
this?
