AIM chatroom issue

It looks like AIM has changed their chatroom protocol somewhat, causing 
problems with all non-AIM clients where messages randomly don't go 
through.  Someone's already opened a ticket for it 
(http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/6590), but clearly, it's a problem 
for all non-AIM clients including Pidgin, Trillian, and even Meebo.

Does anybody know for certain what's happening and when/if we can expect 
Pidgin to adapt to the new changes?
