Disable formatting of outgoing messages

Is there a way to disable formatting of outgoing messages?

If I send:

"subscribeProject BUILD name at room.server"

it ends up going over the wire as:

"subscribeProject BUILD name at room.server <mailto:name at room.server>"

I want to send the string as-is without pidgin formatting it as a mailto
link.  Is this possible?
