how to add buddies who use other IM protocols

Hello.  Sorry if this has already been asked ( I really did try to search
first) .. or perhaps I'm making an incorrect assumption of pidgin
capabiltites..

I've installed pidgin and now use it instead of my AIM client.   I'd now
like to add   yahoo and google talk buddies.  Does this mean I need to
create yahoo and google talk accounts of my own?
