Greetings !
I have a re-occuring problem where the official clients of AIM and Yahoo
stay connecting while our beloved Pidgin disconnects repeatedly. Here's
a snippet of the debug log of an AIM disconnect:

(14:53:39) *oscar:* Scheduling destruction of FLAP connection of type 0x0002
(14:53:39) *oscar:* Destroying oscar connection of type 0x0002.
Disconnect reason is 2
(14:53:39) *oscar:* Disconnected. Code is 0x0000 and msg is
(14:53:39) *account:* Disconnecting account 00C84C68
(14:53:39) *connection:* Disconnecting connection 01DC1C90
(14:53:39) *connection:* Deactivating keepalive.
(14:53:39) *oscar:* Destroying oscar connection of type 0x0010.
Disconnect reason is 0
(14:53:39) *oscar:* Disconnected. Code is 0x0000 and msg is
(14:53:39) *oscar:* Destroying oscar connection of type 0x000d.
Disconnect reason is 0
(14:53:39) *oscar:* Disconnected. Code is 0x0000 and msg is
(14:53:39) *oscar:* Destroying oscar connection of type 0x0018.
Disconnect reason is 0
(14:53:39) *oscar:* Disconnected. Code is 0x0000 and msg is
(14:53:39) *oscar:* Signed off.
(14:53:39) *connection:* Destroying connection 01DC1C90

Any interpretation of this disconnect ? I tend to suspect the keepalive
or something similar.
