Yesterday I upgraded to pidgin 2.4.0....What a mistake...

Can somebody explain to me why for the 3rd time my buddy liste is getting
reset???

I have over a hundred buddys and many a grouped into a single entry with
multiple accounts. Since I upgraded for the 3rd time I am getting an error
that says:

Error reading blist.xml.

An error was encountered reading your buddy list.  They have not been
loaded, and the old file has been renamed to C:\Documents and
Settings\myname\Application Data\.purple\blist.xml~.

That totaally messes up my groups, customer order, etc.

How to make sure that my old blist.xml is read?
