MSN via hotmail shows me offline

Using Pidgin 2.5.1-3.fc8 on a private network w firewall etc.

The company has set up a internal IP for hotmail.com port 1863.  Other
people connect just fine, some don't, and it was working.  I'm thinking
it's maybe Linux 2.6.26-49.fc8 on my box.  Pidgin connects and logs in
but every msn buddy is offline and they see me offline.
