Hi,

I like using pidgin, but I recently start receiving lots of spam IM. I want to block any msg coming from outside my list, but allow friend request to pass through. How to do that?

What do these options actually do?  Do they only prevent people from 
sending me a message, or does it block them from seeing my online status 
as well?  Does it block people from sending me authorization requests?
