pidgin auto-away behavior?

As it stands, if pidgin is set to auto-away, it will just use the
generic away status it has.

I would like for pidgin to use the current text of my status when it
changes to away.  For example, if my current "available" status is
"working" then if it goes to auto-away, I want it to still say the same
thing.

I want to say older versions did do this, but can't  confirm it.
