using BNC with IRC

As you have seen, Pidgin does not have a /server command. You need to
create a new account of type IRC, with the server set to
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx on port pppp, nick username and password bncCode.
That said, only bncs which behave *exactly* like a standard irc daemon
in most respects will work with Pidgin.
Also, upgrade.
