Can this please be taken .. I don't know - offline (for anyone that 
would like to keep discussing it), or to another list?

It was stated the mailing list software this list is on doesn't support it.

That right there should be a clue it's not going to happen - at least 
not if / until the developers decide to move the list to another server.
