I think Luke meant the "im.pidgin.gaim" branch, but easier than that
you can download the "Pidgin 1.5.1" tarball from sourceforge:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/pidgin/files/Pidgin/1.5.1/pidgin-1.5.1.tar.bz2/download.

We really can't recommend that you use an old version though - there
are some known security vulnerabilities and several of the protocols
will not work.
