You get a lot of mail from other users because you're subscribed to the pidgin-support mailing list.
Meaning you get all e-mail send to support at pidgin.im. If you don't want this you can always
unsubscribe (see the link under each e-mail you get).

It isn't. You should have got a mail with this in (about 4 minutes after you've send your first mail):

If you still don't know what to do to fix you're problem, try to find this message in your inbox
(it's been send to the list and to you personally) and reply to it. State what you think pidgin
should do, and what you've tried to get this done. My advise: try looking under Tools>>Privacy.
