yahoo login to pidgin 2.5.5 problem

hi,

i am now on ubuntu 9.04 and am having problems with yahoo logging in to
pidgin 2.5.5.  this happened after pidgin was updated from the previous
version.  the buddy list pane is empty.  there are no plug ins installed.
