Gmail Chat

I'm having trouble logging in to my Gmail Chat account using Pidgin.
However, I am still able to connect to AIM, Yahoo, and even Facebook.

On the modify account page for Gmail/XMPP, there is a field for "Resource."
What is that for? Is it important?
