Pidgin "autohiding"/closing windows

When I first load Pidgin, it auto hides itself (just randomly started
happening).
When I  try to open up a conversation window, it closes itself instantly,
but when i try again it will work.
Same thing happens when I try to open any of the properties or "about" or or
manage accounts.
I'm running Ubuntu 8.1 Intrepid and this is the first time I've had this
problem, any ideas??
