Are you sure this is not a function of the instant messaging service itself?
You are welcome to provide code updates to Pidgin to add this function.
However, for someone else to do this, as well as a desire to do it,
they will need to know which instant messaging service you are using and
how you recognize the sort of message that you are complaining about,
using only machine methods. Looking at your job title, it shouldn't be
difficult for you to provide this information, including the algorithm
to use.

Emails are not formal business letters, whatever businesses may want.
RFC1855 says there should be an address here, but, in a world of spam,
that is no longer good advice, as archive address hiding may not work.
