Status of buddies

Hello.

I am using Pidgin 2.5.8 and chatting with a buddy using Trillian.  When he signs out, I do not receive any notification that he has signed off.  He still shows as available with a green circle in my chat window and I am able to send messages to him, which he never receives because he has signed off....

How can I fix this?
