Connection

Hi
I've just purchased a Ubisurfer netbook with Pidgin pre-installed, but every time I try to connect I get a error message stating "Connection error from Notification server. Unable to connect"
I have checked the settings and as far I know everything is correct. Is there a problem with the netbook or have I forgotton to do something?
