I think that one of the developers was talking about an updated QQ
protocol for Pidgin, but it looks like it didn't make it into 2.6.2.

You could try looking at the Pidgin tickets, or reading the development
mailing list. You can get to that by clicking on Development on the
Pidgin page at http://pidgin.im and then finding the link to the
mailing lists there.
