compling nullclient

Hello, i am a new user in libpurple, can i ask u for advise?
How can i compile nullclient? there are several files in example catalog,
but i cant do anything to compile
I tried

   1. ./configure
   2. make
   3. make install

But there is no configure file in directory, can anyone help me? I am using
Ubuntu and have Qt Creator if it is important. Sorry for my bad English,
Please help.
