My Friend Can't Contact Me,Nor Me Her

Hello,
 
  We downloaded Pidgin and otr.We are both yahoo chat users.I  managed to 
set up my account ok.I added her yahoo username but no luck.What  exactly do 
I have to add to be able to talk to her? Her username,her  email?(and she 
for me).I am with AOL but she is not,is this a problem?
