buddy pounces

I have a gmail account and use gchat often. There are times when I
want to remain invisible though. I pasted the following into my XMPP
Console to allow me to remain invisible:

<presence>
<priority>5</priority>
</presence>
<presence type="unavailable">
<priority>5</priority>
</presence>

The code works and I remain invisible, but now my buddy pounces aren't
triggered. Is there a way to remain invisible and still receive buddy
pounces?
