Error 0x0024: Unknown error.

I just recently reformatted my PC and installed Windows xp professional.
Pidgin worked wonderfully before the reformat, but now I get the error shown
in the subject on connection, and only a fourth of my buddies are listed as
online.  I have already tried uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck.  I
would appreciate any help you can give me.
